The West Springfield Girls Youth Lacrosse Association is a private group governed by a Board of Directors that consists of volunteers from the community. The girls program is affiliated with the Western Massachusetts Girls Youth Lacrosse League, with member teams from towns in the Connecticut River Valley. A governing board from each league establishes rules of play for their respective programs.
The Girls Lacrosse Program has 3 different teams.
The Bantam Team is for girls in grades 3 & 4. The bantam team emphasizes the fundamentals of catching, scooping, cradling, passing and shooting. Players learn these skills during practices and games played against other Bantam teams.
The Junior Team is for girls in grades 5 & 6. This program is where advanced skills are developed.
The Senior Team is for girls in grades 7 & 8. This program is advancing the skills of the players further as they prepare to play at the high school level.
All the teams play a regular season game schedule. The teams may also play in tournaments that are available.
All participants in girls lacrosse will need a Girls Lacrosse Stick (no boys sticks), eye protection and a mouth guard.
